THE ART OF
SOPHIE KNOX

As an artist my passion is and has always been for story and the power that it has to reach into someone's life the way nothing else can. Stories are how we learn, how we connect, and how we understand the world around us. As a child I would spend hours in my room listening to audio books and creating my own original characters and stories, carefully illustrating each of them with great detail and attention to their personality. As an adult, not much has changed. That careful attention to character and personality (and their stories) is an area of creation and discovery that I never get tired of exploring.

My work is created with a variety of 2D and 3D materials as I have never been able to limit myself to any one medium. I love to learn, so I often find my works are constantly evolving as I discover and experiment with new skills and materials.

I have also enjoyed dipping my fingers into the realm of theater. Over the past several years I have designed sets and costume pieces for various local productions including Newsies and The Just So Stories. I love the magic of the theater and how it utilizes so many different art forms to bring stories to life.

I look forward to further exploring the opportunities that theater has for me as an artist as well as continuing to discover my voice as a storyteller.
